Comet

Nicknames: Moo, Monster, Fuzzy, Comster
Birthdate: April 9, 1990
Type of cat: Sleepy Miniature Schnauzer
Favourite Activities: Sleeping, Eating
Favourite Sleeping Spots: In his house (large dog cage that's in the kitchen) or his bed (wicker basket in the living room)
Comet is my parent's dog, once I threatened to take him with me when I moved out (this was long before I was seriously considering it) and I was told to not even think about it. He's definately my Mom's baby (not in a spoiled beyond belief way though).
Although I don't like to admit it Comet isn't the young pup he once was. We think he might have arthritis in his hind legs and he doesn't hear as well as he used to (or has choosen to ignore just about everything anyone says to him). Most of the time he sleeps, which since he's an older dog is his perogative. He usually wakes up to see me when I'm over at his house.
Don't tell the vet this but Comet loves popcorn! In the evening he'll sit and stare at Mom until she goes into the kitchen and starts the popper. Then she throws pieces to him while she eats it. In his older age he's started getting pickier about the pieces and attempts to eat only the ones with lots of butter (it doesn't work though, Mom makes him eat all of the pieces).
When I was younger Comet would help wake me up. One of my parents would come downstairs (where my room was) and he'd run and jump on to my bed and bounce around to make sure I was awake. Then I'd get kisses and he would run back upstairs.
Comet was not named after the dog on Full House! His mother's name was Haley and his full name is actually Haley's Comet.
The Story of Comet
One shining spring day when I was 11 Dad saw an advertisement in the paper for Schnauzer puppies. We had had a Schnauzer who had died a few years before and he and Mom had been talking about getting another dog. So he went to pick up Mom for lunch and drove out to where they were at.
Mom had missed the ad in the paper so she was completely surprised. They sat playing with the puppies for awhile and decided that they couldn't leave without one. So they picked out Comet from the ones that weren't spoken for.
Comet was an adorable little guy, really dark grey with a tiny little beard. He still had casts on his ears from when they had cut them (for lack of a better term, they don't do it as often to the puppies anymore anyways) but his tail had already healed from when they had cropped it.
So Dad got to take Comet home and Mom got to go back to work. When Erik and I got home from school that day we went into the living room to find Dad having a nap on the couch with a puppy sleeping on his chest. We screamed so loud with excitement that we woke the two of them up. It was a complete surprise to us since we didn't even know they were looking for another dog.
