A bit about me

My name is Lizz Fransen and I live on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I grew up in a fairly small town, with my parents, my brother and Comet the Miniature Schnauzer. Fortunately I wasn't too far from towns with malls and grocery stores. A few years ago I moved to Nanaimo where I have an apartment with my roommate Michael and Fashnik, Nik for short, who I like to call a kitten (and probably always will).

I went back to school full-time in January 2005, working towards a Bachelor in Business Adminstration at Malaspina University-College. Before that I worked for a fairly large industrial company for a couple of years as a Desktop Publisher/Administrative Assistant. I was working contract to contract usually doing something involving formatting documents as well as any other odds and ends they could find for me.

I'm a hockey fanatic who doesn't watch the NHL until the Junior A season has ended. My team is the Cowichan Valley Capitals. If you're interested in the hockey aspect of my life you can check out the site my Mom and I do, CapsSuperFans.com

I'm really close to my family, they're more than just relatives, I consider them friends too. I won't name all of my non-immediate family members but to give you an idea size-wise my Dad is one of six children who all have at least two children each and my Mom is one of four children who have children that make up 4 cousins, 1 step-cousin, and a whole bunch of foster cousins.

My knitting history

I've been knitting since I was young, I'm not sure how young though. My Mom or my Grandma might know. I got my Grandma to teach my, she is a wonderful knitter and always has something interesting on her needles. My mom is also a knitter, though she's isn't always working on a project like my Grandma is. My early knitting projects never got completed though, I just didn't have enough discipline to complete them. I think I might still have a puppet somewhere that just needs a face embroidered onto it and it's seams sewn together. A few years ago I picked up the needles again and actually completed a few projects. Then I moved and the knitting became forgotten again.

My thought when I started this blog was that I'd be less likely to put down the needles and forget to pick them back up if I was writing about knitting. So far it's worked!
